Leverage Your Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is coming quickly and one of the best opportunities to plan your next houseboat trip could be right on your table with the turkey!

With your whole crew in the same place at the same time. This could be the perfect chance to bring up the subject of a houseboat trip... and Leverage your Thanksgiving into a real plan.

You will, however, need to be prepared to take advantage of this opportunity ahead of time. Now, before the crush of cooking and grocery shopping hits you, is the perfect time to prepare your Plan to Houseboat.

Collect pictures:
Get ready to share your vision with photos of the lake and houseboat model you are thinking about. Collect your own photos from past trips if you have any, print a few from the Forever Houseboats website, or call for a brochure. (800-255-5561)

Prepare calendars:
Designate a houseboat planning calendar for next year and mark potential dates you think might work for everyone. Have it ready to pass around and don't forget to consider that special anniversary, birthday, or any other excuse for fun!

Create lists:
Print up lists ahead of time with some of the fun activities, meals, and people you think would make your trip a winner. Which water sports, theme parties, on shore activities, fishing attempts, food themes, and other fun ideas do you think might interest your crew?

Prepare laptops and i-pads:
A laptop or an i-pad can be an excellent tool to bring to your group's discussion. Bookmark foreverhouseboats.com so you are ready to pass it around. Let your crew explore the website, check out different houseboat models, investigate locations, and see all of the fun possibilities.

Check out the videos:
There are also some excellent online videos at the site your crew can watch about first time houseboating along with virtual tours of the
houseboat styles, and even some houseboat
orientation videos.

Slide into next year with dessert:
If you're prepared ahead of time, your preparations may just result in some firm plans being made before the dessert's even served.

Just remember, this process is just like a houseboat vacation, we can help with the boat, but the food is up to you. Good Luck!

Breakfast Omlettes the Easy Way!

For a seriously easy and fun breakfast on or off the water, try this one for size. If you can boil the water, your crew can do the rest!

Just lay out your breakfast ingredients ahead of time: Eggs, cheese, onions, diced peppers, garlic, olives, and whatever else you can think of. (Our kids tried M&Ms.)

Have a box of zip lock plastic bags ready too. (Don't forget a marker so everyone can label their own creations.)

Now all everyone needs to do is fill their bag with their favorite ingredients, zip it all up inside, mix it up by squeezing and mashing the bag (gently) till it's all mixed up, and then drop it into the boiling water.

Half the fun is putting it all in the bag and then getting it out after it's cooked. Enjoy!

From our grill to yours, peace be with you!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Houseboating and Thanksgiving have a lot in common. They both bring people together for fun times, delicious food and priceless memories.

So Happy Thanksgiving,
From our crew to yours!

Portside Musings

Benjamin Franklin once said that the turkey should have been the national emblem, but luckily his idea was drowned out... most likely from the leftover gravy from the Thanksgiving feast.
